The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline goes live on Saturday across the country and in South Dakota.

The number is available to call or text for anyone who is experiencing a behavioral health crisis and needs to reach trained mental health professionals. A chat function will also be available on the Helpline’s website.

In South Dakota, the lifeline will be staffed 24 hours by the Helpline Center based out of Sioux Falls.
