Behavioral Health

Avel will offer access to mental health professionals for scheduled outpatient visits. Master of Social Work Professionals will provide individual therapy sessions within the clinic or at home, if approved by the tribal community. Avel proposes exploration of group therapy opportunities for certain individuals as evidence has shown these therapies to be effective in improving patient outcomes. Psychiatry visits will be offered for both adults and adolescents with psychiatrists and certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners.

The team is trained in the expert delivery of telemedicine care and has experience supporting local clinicians and providers with advice and assistance.

Sexual Assault Nursing Examination (SANE): Consultative assistance to Service Unit’s emergency
department staff for documentation and collection of evidence via audio and video equipment in accordance
with the National Protocol for Sexual Medical Forensic Examinations for Adults/Adolescents and National
Protocol for Sexual Abuse Medical Forensic Examination Pediatric and Service Unit’s policies, protocols, and
procedures. The nurse will promote culturally appropriate advocacy for individuals consulted upon in a
difficult time.
